We were invited into the rehearsal room for Life of Pi which receives its world premiere at Sheffield Crucible later this month.

Yann Martel's Man Booker-winning novel has been adapted for the stage by Lolita Chakrabarti and is directed by Max Webster with puppetry design by Nick Barnes and Finn Caldwell.

Hiran Abeysekera plays Pi, a 16 year-old boy who is stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger after a cargo ship sinks in the Pacific Ocean.

The production has design by Tim Hatley, lighting by Tim Lutkin, composition by Andrew Mackay, sound by Carolyn Downing, video by Andrzej Goulding and casting by Polly Jerrold.

It runs at Sheffield Crucible from 28 June to 20 July.
