Complete casting has been revealed for the upcoming revival of Gypsy.
Jules Styne, Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim’s much-loved musical, which features numbers including “May We Entertain You”, “You Gotta Have a Gimmick” and “Rose’s Turn”, follows an overbearing and cash-strapped mother attempting to break her children into showbusiness.
Joining the previously revealed Rebecca Thornhill and Evelyn Hoskins in the upcoming Mill at Sonning production will be Daniel Crowder (as Herbie), Samuel How (LA), Buna McCreary-Njie (Kansas), Tim Maxwell-Clarke (Pop), Peter Nash (Tulsa), Seren Sandham-Davies (Agnes), Marina Tavolieri (June), Laura Tryer (Tessie), Susannah van den Berg (Mazeppa), Joseph Vella (Yonkers) and Natalie Winsor (Electra).
Three sets of children also feature in the show, with Baby June played across the run by Daisy Jeffcoate, Mia Burton and Isla Jones, Baby Louise by Sophie Bidgood, Aimee Brain and Sophie Lloyd and the Newsboy by Avi Kruijt, Sacha Yarwood, Samuel Logan, George Clarke, Joshua Rowe and Harley Coles.
The piece runs at the Berkshire venue from 24 May to 15 July 2023, while the creative team includes director Joseph Pitcher, musical arranger and musical director Francis Goodhand, designer Jason Denvir, costume designer Natalie Titchener, lighting designer Nic Farman, sound designer Chris Whybrow, with casting by Pearson Casting, associate choreography by Alex Christian, children’s casting by Amber Edlin and children’s administration by Jo Hawes.
