Morgan Lloyd Malcolm's hit play Emilia had its West End opening night last night, with the cast celebrating with guests in the Vaudeville Theatre afterwards.

Pearl Mackie, Fiona Shaw, Meera Syal and Mark Rylance were among those in attendance for the show, based on the life of Renaissance poet Emilia Bassano.

The play first ran at Shakespeare's Globe in 2018, and has direction by Nicole Charles with set and costume by Joanna Scotcher, movement by Anna Morrissey, lighting by Zoe Spurr, sound by Emma Laxton, composition by Luisa Gerstein and musical direction by Yshani Perinpanayagam.

It runs in the West End until 25 June.
