Stephen Schwartz and John Caird‘s Bible-inspired musical Children of Eden will be revived in the West End for one night only in a “spectacular star-studded charity gala” at the Prince of Wales Theatre on Sunday 29 January.

The concert, performed by a company of 75, and will feature stars drawn from the West End and TV including Oliver Thornton, Lauren Samuels, Russell Grant, Gareth Gates, Anton Stephans, Emma Barton, Waylon Jacobs, John Wilding and Brenda Edwards. The evening will be closed by special guest Kerry Ellis.

The gala is being staged to raise awareness of the chronic and debilitating condition, Crohn’s disease and all proceeds will be donated to Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

Children of Eden was developed through the RSC and had its world premiere at the Prince Edward Theatre in January 1991, but closed after only four months.

Centring on the figures of Adam, Eve and Noah, it’s billed as a “frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children”.
