The Whatsonstage.com Television channel is a rapidly expanding archive of theatre-related video content. As well as our exclusive first night reports, we regularly add show trailers, event promos, interviews, video diaries, behind-the-scenes footage and some hysterical “best of the web” gems, all handpicked by us.

Here’s a selection of some of our favourite recent additions:

  • Cat Head Theatre – One of the most bizarre theatre-related videos circulating the web at the moment is ‘Cat Head Theatre’, in which animations of cats are made to speak the words of the bard. Truly odd, but quite amusing and with hits of over 2.5 million (and counting), it seems the people have spoken! >>>Click here to view!
  • Show Trailer – Filter’s Twelfth Night – Filter theatre company are reviving their acclaimed production of Twelfth Night at the Tricycle theatre this month, and here provide a preview of what audiences can expect from their reworking of Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identity. >>>Click here to view!
  • David Tennant Does Hamlet (Sort of) – Occasionally a home-edited clip deserves plaudits for sheer inventiveness, and this is certainly one of them. Clicking on the link in expectation of some choice clips of the great Scot delivering some of the Bard’s most famous lines, I was greeted by a somewhat alternative version. Say what you like, you have to admire the guy’s dedication – he must’ve been trawling the Doctor Who archives for hours! >>>Click here to view!
  • Show Trailer – Now or Later – Opening at the Royal Court this month, Christopher Shinn’s Now or Later is a timely US election drama, set on results night of the US political showdown and helmed by the Court’s artistic director Dominic Cooke. This stylishly edited trailer features audio clips from the show, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Matthew Marsh. >>>Click here to view!

** DON’T MISS our Whatsonstage.com Outing to NOW OR LATER on 24 September 2008 – including a FREE drink & our EXCLUSIVE post-show Q&A with Eddie Redmayne, Matthew Marsh & Dominic Cooke – all for just £25! – click here for more info! **

  • Sneak Peek – The Little Mermaid – One of the many shows rumoured to be swimming its way to the West End next year is Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which opened on Broadway earlier this year. For those who can’t wait till it reaches these shores, we’ve tracked down a clip of the show, featuring one of the best known songs, Under the Sea, recorded for the ABC news channel. >>>Click here to view!

You can view these – & many more – clips on tvision.whatsonstage.com.
If you’ve seen something you think is worth a watch for theatregoers,
then please email us the clip or a link to it.
