The Whatsonstage.com Television channel is a rapidly expanding archive of theatre-related video content. As well as our exclusive first night reports, we regularly add show trailers, event promos, interviews, video diaries, behind-the-scenes footage and some hysterical “best of the web” gems, all handpicked by us. Below is a selection of some of our favourite recent additions…

You can view these – & many more – clips on tvision.whatsonstage.com.

  • Patti LuPone Snaps – This audio clip of Patti LuPone stopping a performance of Gypsy on Broadway recently to reprimand a member of the audience for taking photographs has been spreading like wildfire round the theatre community. Ironically the whole episode was being illicitly recorded by another audience member.

  • Show Trailer – Three Days of Rain – In line with its opening this week (See 1st Night Photos, 11 Feb 2009), the producers of the new West End revival of Richard Greenberg’s acclaimed 1997 play have produced this rather snazzy trailer. It’s well worth a look, featuring interviews with cast members James McAvoy, Nigel Harman and Lyndsey Marshall.

  • Show Trailer – Spring Awakening – Another show making a splash at the moment is alt-rock musical Spring Awakening,
adapted from Frank Wedekind’s classic play of adolescent sexual
discovery. This neat trailer gives a taster of
what’s on offer from the coolest new musical in town…

  • Blast from the Past – WOS Awards 2008 – In honour of this Sunday’s WOS Theatregoers’ Choice Awards Concert at the Prince of Wales Theatre, here’s a reminder of the fun and frolics at last year’s event – replete with that infamous snog!
