The all new Sooty, featuring TV host Richard Cadell and the Sooty, Sweep and Soo puppet trio, opens in the daytime slot at the Garrick Theatre (current home of Chicago) on 13 December.

Originally created by Harry Corbett in 1948 when he bought the puppet for his son, Sooty’s first show in 13 years features ringmaster Norman Barrett, Father Christmas, Harry the Robot, and the original Sooty Show characters Butch the bull dog and Ramsbottom the snake.

Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Richard are preparing for their Christmas party when things take a turn for the worse. Fortunately Uncle Norman comes to help with his troupe of performing budgies and Father Christmas arrives to deliver a present for the children in the theatre to take home.

Hosted by Harry Corbett during the 70s and 80s, the original Sooty theatre show last appeared in the West End in 1998.

“The Sooty theatre show was an institution during the 70s and 80s,” said Sooty’s newest host and director Richard Cadell, “We are hoping that the children of those eras will bring their children along to enjoy the next instalment of Sooty in the West End.”

Sooty – Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Busy runs at the Garrick until 31 December 2011.
