The National Theatre has released production images of Misterman starring Cillian Murphy which opens tomorrow night (18 April, previews from 14 April 2012) in the NT Lyttelton.

Written and directed by Enda Walsh, Misterman tells the story of Inishfree resident oddball Thomas Magill and his journey from innocent evangelist to avenging angel. The show is a tour de force 90-minute solo performance which dominates the vast Lyttelton stage.

First performed at the Galway Arts Festival in 2011, the production transferred to Broadway before making its way the the National Theatre where it continues in rep until 28 May 2012.

Cillian Murphy‘s film work includes 28 Days Later, Inception and Batman Begins in which he played The Scarecrow. Misterman reunites him with Walsh in London for the first time since Disco Pigs at the Arts Theatre in 1998. The Irish playwright’s last work to play at the National was The Walworth Farce in 2008.

Misterman is designed by Jamie Vartan with lighting by Adam Silverman, music by Donnacha Dennehy and sound by Gregory Clarke.
