We’re praying for good weather over the next three days for the sake of Laurie Sansom. Sansom, with two colleagues from the Royal and Derngate, Northampton (where he’s artistic director), set out this morning (5 May 2010) on an 84-mile walk from London’s National Theatre, where his transfer productions of Spring Storm and Beyond the Horizon opened last month, to Northampton. The walk is part of a year-long programme of fundraising events, marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal.

All funds raised during the anniversary year go directly back into work produced for the Royal stage. The trio aim to arrive in Northampton on Friday afternoon, when they’ll be joined by supporters to walk the final miles home. They can be sponsored via www.justgiving.com/challenge125walk or by calling the Royal & Derngate Box Office on 01604 624811.
