Sam Mendes looks set to make a return to the National Theatre for the first time in over ten years, to direct his long time collaborator Simon Russell Beale in King Lear. According to the Daily Mail, negotiations are currently underway with the pair, who last worked together at the NT in 1998 on Othello. The production is scheduled for 2012, though it’s yet to be decided whether it will be for the Spring or Autumn season.
