RSC announces search for The Boy in the Dress musical leads

The musical is created by Robbie Williams, Guy Chambers and Mark Ravenhill and is based on the novel by David Walliams

The RSC has begun a search for young actors to take on the two lead roles in the new musical The Boy in the Dress.

Announcing the search on social media, the company has requested "boys who can sing, dance and act well to play the lead roles of Dennis and Darvesh" to sign up to audition for the new production, which is based on the hit novel by David Walliams.

Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers are supplying music for the musical, which has a book by Mark Ravenhill (The Cane, Shopping and F*cking).

The company are looking for eight boys aged between 10 and 13 to share the two roles, with those selected needing to be based in the Midlands or London area.

The piece is set to open in previews on Friday 8 November before opening on 27 November and running until 8 March 2020. Read our story on the RSC's new season here.
