Emi Wokoma and Chris Tummings, soon to star in the West End run of Tina Turner musical Soul Sister, were out to meet the press at the Hospital Club Gallery last night (26 July 2012).Emi Wokoma (Tina Turner)

Wokoma and Tummings, who play the fraught stars of the show, Tina and Ike Turner, posed in front of the Jimi Hendrix exhibition currently running at the gallery. Surely not by coincidence, Hendrix himself had a spell in Tina and Ike’s band before becoming a guitar hero in his own right.

Soul Sister, which opens 23 August, tells the story of Ike and Tina, charting their electric first meeting and meteoric rise to fame through 1960s and 70s America, their turbulent marriage and Tina Turner’s thrilling re-emergence as an international rock star and icon.
