The Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to Rupert Goold‘s production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in Kensington Gardens on Friday (15 June 2012).

The Duchess was hosting a group made up of 150 kids from The Art Room, a charity for 5 to 16-year-olds with emotional and behavioural difficulties of which she has been a patron since January.

She mingled with the children throughout the evening, making sure the show was not too scary for them and asking whether any of them had tried Turkish Delight. After the performance, the Duchess met the cast and crew where they chatted about everything from the storyline of CS Lewis’ book to the football match between England and Sweden.

Kate selected the charity after ThreeSixty Productions invited her to bring a group of children for a unique performance. Juli Beattie, founder and director of The Art Room, said: “To see the children’s reaction was overwhelming. It was a fantastic visual experience for all of them.”
