The Lowry
welcomes Nederlands Dans Theater 2 (NDT2) back on their 10th UK tour,
as their extraordinary technical ability combined with their particular
brand of enthusiasm and energy, wows audiences all over the world.

The Company will perform 2 UK premieres – Offspring, choreographed
by Lukáš Timulak and Jiří Kylián’s Gods and Dogs.  Offspring was
premiered in The Hague in February of this year and is inspired by the
recent birth of Timulak’s first child.  Timulak still dances with NDT1
and was a former NDT2 dancer.  Kylián’s Gods and Dogs was premiered in
The Hague in November 2008 and is set to Beethoven’s String Quartet
Opus 18. The programme is completed with Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 which
has always received a tremendous reception from British audiences.

Founded in 1978, NDT2 is the second, younger company of Nederlands
Dans Theater and over the past thirty years has established a
reputation for the astounding technique and boundless energy of its
young dancers. The company consists of sixteen dancers aged between 17
and 23 years who come from all over the world.

The Artistic Director of NDT2 is Gerald Tibbs, who has held this
position since 1990.  Today, NDT is led by Artistic Director Anders
Hellström and performs all over the world from their base in The Hague
to Rio de Janeiro, from Tokyo to New York.  Jim Vincent takes over from
Hellström on 1st August 2009.
