The London Horror Festival is returning this year from 15 October to 7 November 2012 at the Etcetera Theatre, Camden and Wilton’s Music Hall.

The annual event is billed as “a theatrical extravaganza comprising of cutting-edge new drama, grisly sketch comedy and blood-soaked musical entertainment galore.” This year will feature 15 events over three weeks at the two venues.

Highlights include The Horror! The Horror! at Wilton’s, a promenade backstage tour of “a theatre gripped by an otherworldly evil”; the world premiere of Fringe First winner Dave Florez‘s new psychodrama Hero/Heroine, and the return of acclaimed Hammer Horror spoofers The Monster Hunters.

It will also feature London transfers for Edinburgh Fringe shows including The Three Faces of Doctor Crippen and Dracula: Sex, Sucking and Stardom.

The festival will also involve the finale of the first Stage Fright writing competition for short horror dramas. Three shortlisted entries will be performed and recorded live by the acclaimed Wireless Theatre Company before a winner is selected by special guest presenter and judge Richard O’Brien (writer of The Rocky Horror Show).

Created by leading UK horror company Theatre of the Damned and produced by Stewart Pringle and Liam Welton, the London Horror Festival opens 15 October.
