British ballroom dancer, choreographer, and television personality Len Goodman has died aged 78.
Born on April 25, 1944, in Bethnal Green, London, England, Goodman began dancing at a young age and eventually turned professional, competing in various competitions and winning several championships.
In addition to his dance career, Goodman became well-known as a judge on the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing. Goodman served as a judge on the show from its inception in 2004 until 2016, when he retired from the show. He was known for his constructive and often humorous comments, as well as his catchphrases like “SEV-EN!” when awarding a score of seven.
Goodman has also appeared on several other TV shows, including DanceX, Dancing on Ice, and Len Goodman’s Partners in Rhyme.
He has been recognized for his contributions to dance with various awards and honors, including an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006 and a fellowship from the Royal Academy of Dance in 2008.
Goodman is said to have died peacefully over the weekend, surrounded by family.
