Actress, presenter and model Kelly Brook looks set to make her West End debut, taking over from Joanna Page in Neil Labute’s Fat Pig, which transfers to the Comedy theatre from 11 September (See News, 11 August 2008).
According to the Daily Mirror, Brook will take over from Page in October, with an inside source telling the paper she is “absolutely thrilled” at the prospect. Although primarily known as a TV presenter and model, Brook has also appeared in a number of films, including School for Seduction and the 2003 remake of The Italian Job. She has also previously appeared on the London stage, playing exotic dancer Anya in Eye Contact at the Riverside Studios in 2000.
If confirmed, she will link up with fellow new cast members Kevin Bishop and Nicholas Burns, who are taking over from current male leads Kris Marshall and Robert Webb. Ella Smith is set to continue in the role of Helen, the plus-sized woman whose new boyfriend Tom struggles to deal with the indignation of his work colleagues over the size of his new squeeze.
Brook’s involvement should certainly bolster interest in the show, which opened at the Trafalgar Studios earlier this year (27 May 2008, previews from 16 May). And no doubt much of that attention will be from her large army of male admirers – her varied CV includes topping FHM’s ‘100 sexiest women in the world’ poll in 2005.
