In the latest spate of celebrity “name” casting, Broadway producer Eric Falkenstein is reportedly in negotiations to cast Katie Holmes, the third wife of film star Tom Cruise, in a new production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on Broadway later this year. Other casting is to be announced.

According to today’s Daily Mail, it would be Holmes’ first play since high school and that she is apparently quite “serious about working in the theatre.” Holmes will also be taking part in a private workshop of the play in May which will give industry guests the first chance to see her strut her stuff. And if the full production – directed by British-born Simon McBurney – does well on Broadway it might, just might, transfer across the Atlantic to one of the London playhouses.

Is this good casting, or just another gimmick aimed at pulling in the audiences???
