Hit BBC comedy series Gavin & Stacey could be transformed into a stage musical, the show’s co-creator Ruth Jones has said. The Welsh star, who wrote 20 episodes of the romantic comedy with James Corden, has told the Evening Standard the pair would love to re-write the show for the stage as a slated Christmas special kept being pushed back.
Jones goes on to cite her own television commitments as well as the recent birth of Corden’s son for a new episode of Gavin & Stacey not being written in time for Christmas.
Corden is currently fronting the National Theatre’s One Man, Two Guvnors which transferred to the Adelphi Theatre following an extended run in the NT Lyttelton and a national tour.
Corden will transfer with the production, adapted by Richard Bean from Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, to Broadway following its limited West End season to 25 February 2012.
