Full casting announced for new musical Lift at Soho

Full casting has been announced for new musical Lift which, as previously reported, will premiere at Soho Theatre next year.

With music and lyrics by Craig Adams and a book by Ian Watson, the project has been developed through
Perfect Pitch and is presented by Theatre Bench in association with Ros
Povey.

Directed by Steven Paling, Lift is set at Covent Garden tube station on an ordinary morning,
exploring the thoughts of eight people and “revealing their innermost
secrets”.

It will star Julie Atherton as ‘French Teacher’, Nikki Davis-Jones as ‘Secretary’, Cynthia Erivo as ‘Lap Dancer’, Jonny Fines as ‘Ballet Dancer’, Luke Kempner as ‘Bright Young Thing’, Ellie Kirk as ‘Athletic and Wearing a Thong’, George Maguire as ‘Busker’ and Robbie Towns as ‘Tall, Dark and Handsome’.

Atherton, who has a long association with Perfect Pitch, has just finished touring the UK as Sister Mary Robert in Sister Act, and will be playing the title role in Cinderella at the Lyric Hammersmith this Christmas. West End theatre credits include Avenue Q, Fame and Mamma Mia!.

Nikki Davis-Jones recently covered and performed the role of Elphaba in Wicked; Cynthia Erivo played Deloris Van Cartier alongside Atherton in the recent UK tour of Sister Act; Jonny Fines has appeared in the UK tours of Avenue Q and The Sound of Music; Luke Kempner has recently appeared in the UK tour of South Pacific; Ellie Kirk recently appeared in The Alchemist for Headlong Theatre and played Margot in Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre; George Maguire recently played Mark Bolan in the T-Rex musical 20th Century Boy at the Belgrade Theatre; and Robbie Towns recently appeared in The Tempest at Theatre Royal Bath and is now reprising his role as Tom Jenkins in Scrooge at the London Palladium.

Lift runs at Soho Theatre from 1 February to 24 February 2013 (previews from 30 January).
