Finborough Theatre announces Jan-Mar 2013 season

The Finborough Theatre, which recently won the Peter Brook Empty Space Award for a second time, has announced its January to March season, which will mix ‘rediscoveries’ with new writing.

The season opens from 2 January to 26 January 2013 with a new play by Scots Gaelic playwright Iain Finlay Macleod entitled Somersaults, directed by Russell Bolam, which will be an England premiere.

It runs in tandem with the world premiere of So Great A Crime (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays 6-22 January), a play based on the true story of a well loved national hero accused of paedophilia written and directed by David Gooderson.

After the two premieres, rediscovery begins with London Wall by John Van Druten, directed by Tricia Thorns. Running from 29 January to 23 February, this will be the first production of the play in over 80 years.

It’s accompanied by Saer Doliau (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays 3-19 February), Gwenlyn Parry’s Welsh-language classic which will be performed with English subtitles.

The season comes to a close with Canadian playwright Arthur Milner’s Facts (26 February–23 March), which is set in the Occupied Territories, directed by Caitlin McLeod. Alongside Facts will be the first London production in nearly 40 years of Laburnum Grove by JB Priestley (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays 3-19 March).
