A planned West End production of Douglas Carter Beane’s 1997 comedy As Bees in Honey Drown starring Cynthia Nixon has apparently been cancelled after “financing collapsed”. According to the Daily Mail, the cast were just weeks away from starting rehearsals when they heard the news, and a “hugely disappointed” Nixon had to cancel plans for a London move.
Nixon, best known for playing Miranda in TV series Sex and the City, is no stranger to the stage, having won a Tony Award four years ago when she starred in David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Rabbit Hole. She had a small part in the original production of As Bees in Honey Drown, and was due to play con artist Alexa Vere de Vere in the revival.
