More trouble for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Scottish stage and screen star Alan Cumming, who had been cast as villain the Green Goblin, has pulled out – which follows the recent withdrawal of leading lady Evan Rachel Wood. Previously due to premiere last month, the Broadway screen-to-stage musical – has a score by U2’s Bono and The Edge and a book by Glen Berger and Julie Taymor, who’s also directing (marking her first major Broadway credit since The Lion King in 1997) – was postponed following rumours of financial and creative difficulties. It’s now scheduled to start performances at New York’s Hilton Theater in September. Will it?
