Casting: The Great Gatsby Musical

Casting has been announced for a musical version of The Great Gatsby, which opens at The King’s Head Theatre from 10 August (previews from 7 August).

Sean Browne and Matilda Sturridge will play the central roles of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan in the world premiere of The Great Gatsby Musical, based on the F Scott Fitzgerald classic.

Sean Browen has appeared in 12 films and was recently in the play This is How It Goes in Hamburg. Matilda Sturridge has just completed filming on the second series of The Borgias. She played Dorothy in the film FairyTale: A True Story.

The rest of the cast is made up of: Anna Maguire, Barnarby Brookman, Claire-Monique Martin, Jon Gabriel Robbins, Naomi Bullock, Patrick Lannigan, Peta Cornish, Raphael Verrion, Steve Clarke.

The novel has been adapted by Joe Evans and Linnie Reedman (who also directs), with original music and lyrics by Joe Evans.It tells the story of self-made millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsession with the unobtainable Daisy Buchannan, married off to old money. Gatsby’s decadent glitz and glamour melt away as the story of his love, and past, unravel at the same time.

Produced by Ruby In The Dust, The Great Gatsby Musical runs at the King’s Head Theatre from Tuesday 7 August – Saturday 1 September 2012.
