First Night Records has recently announced the release of cast recordings for West End musicals
Singin’ in the Rain and
Top Hat, which will be released later this summer. Songs from
Singin’ in the Rain include “Good Morning,” “Make ‘Em Laugh” and the famous title track “Singin’ in the Rain.”
Top Hat‘s album will include Irving Berlin hits “Let’s Face the Music and Dance”, “Cheek to Cheek” and “Top Hat”. Official release dates are yet to be announced.
Currently running at the Palace Theatre,
Singin’ in the Rain is set in the Hollywood silent movie era and charts the fall of a silent actor, brought about by the advent of talking films.
Adam Cooper,
Daniel Crossley and
Scarlett Strallen star in the title roles made famous by
Gene Kelly,
Donald O’Connor and
Debbie Reynolds.
Top Hat, housed at the Aldwych Theatre, incorporates Irving Berlin’s greatest hits into a celebration of 1930s ballroom and tap. Tom Chambers (Holby City and Strictly Come Dancing winner) plays the irrepressible Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to woo society model Dale Tremont, played by triple Olivier nominee Summer Strallen (Love Never Dies, The Sound of Music and The Drowsy Chaperone).
