Jerusalem star Danny Kirrane and The Children’s Hour’s
Eve Ponsonby are to star in the Headlong Theatre production of Ella Hickson‘s Boys which will play the Soho Theatre from 29 May to 16
June 2012 following its debut at the HighTide Festival and a short stint at Southampton’s Nuffield.
In other casting news the Finborough theatre has finalised its forthcoming production of John McGrath’s Events While Guarding the Bofors Gun which will feature Ian Charleson Award nominee Charles Aitken and Mamma Mia star Anthony Topham.
Directed by Robert Hastie, the play is set on a British Army base in Germany. during the Cold War and examines the
power struggles within a bored and embittered group of soldiers posted to guard an obsolete
anti-aircraft gun.
The cast also includes Lee Armstrong, Phil Cheadle, Michael Shelford, Mark Stanley, Greg Tannahill, Samuel Taylor and Alex Warren.
One of the contestants in the forthcoming ITV series, Superstar (Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for a Jesus Christ Superstar) has joined the cast of The Thing About Men at the Landor Theatre. The announcement of John
Addison‘s involvement was delayed while waiting for filming schedules to be finalised. Addison’s stage credits include Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera.
He joins cast members Lucyelle Cliffe, Peter Gerald, Kate Graham and Steven Webb.
Directed by Andrew Keates, The Thing About Men is a musical based on the 1985 German film Men
by Doris Dorrie detailing the twists and turns of a love triangle.
Boys plays at the HighTide Festival from 3 May to 13
May 2012, the Nuffield Southampton from 16 to
26 May. 2012 and the Soho Theatre from 29 May to 16
June 2012.
Events While Guarding the Bofors Gun.plays at the Finborough from 22 May to 16 June 2012.
The Thing About Men plays at the Landor Theatre for a four week run from 15th May 2012.
