Cher, renowned for her age-defying appearance, may achieve a new type of immortality – as the inspiration for a new stage musical. Following the American singer/actress’ recent appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, writer-and-director Andy Fickman confirmed that he’s working on a new theatre production based on Cher. He told gossip website Popeater.com: “She’s a fairly phenomenal character, Cher, as a human being I think she’s one of the great icons of all time, a force to be reckoned with.”

Cher, now 64, launched her career in the 1960s as one half of singing couple Sonny and Cher, with “I Got You Babe”. Her other chart hits have included “I Found Someone”, “Heart of Stone”, “Believe” and 1989’s “If I Could Turn Back Time”. She’s also had Hollywood success with films such as The Witches of Eastwick, Silkwood, Mask, Mermaids and Moonstruck.
