My mum was a stalwart of the WI for many years but I could never imagine her taking off her clothes to pose for a calendar! It was with this in mind that I went along to see the stage version of this classic film.

It was one of the best things I have ever seen at the theatre – a real treat.

By the end of the evening, I had wiped away tears of sadness as well as tears of joy – my jaw was aching from laughing so much. The story is told with great skill and the comedy acting from the cast is just perfect.

The central roles are played brilliantly by Linda Bellingham and Jan Harvey with great support from Michelle Collins (who has an excellent singing voice) and Ruth Madoc. It is almost like seeing Loose Women come to live on stage – their interplay is just so natural.

Credit must also go to the designer who created a set that easily transforms from church hall to the expanse of the Yorkshire Dales.

All in all, this is a great night out and one that will stay with you long after you have left the theatre. Enjoy!
