The tenth annual Get into London Theatre (GILT) campaign will commence in January, offering six weeks of cheap ticket deals and activities to a range of musicals, plays, opera and dance.

To launch the 2011 campaign, West End star Daniel Boys will host a free afternoon of “theatrical fun” on 4 January 2011 at the Royal Festival Hall, featuring performances and workshops from Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, Stomp, Priscilla and Legally Blonde among others.

Get into London Theatre, which runs until 18 February 2011, was created by London mayor Ken Livingstone in 2001 in response to the dwindling number of theatregoers following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The scheme is now organised by industry body the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).

Current Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said: “Hats off to the Society of London Theatre. As well as the packed onstage line up, they’ve added an exciting programme of activities and events. Get Into London Theatre means you can bag a bargain at a time when people are watching their pennies and is a delightful fillip for the chilly first months of the year. It’s a fabulous opportunity to discover why our theatre industry is the envy of the world.”

Tickets priced from as little as £10 are available for a wide choice of musicals, plays, opera, dance and entertainment from Billy Elliot – The Musical to English National Ballet’s Romeo And Juliet. And for the first time ever this year, there are exclusive Get Into London Theatre show and activity packages, enabling audience members to take part in special workshops or meet the talent behind London’s biggest productions.
