Birmingham Repertory Theatre will deliver a brand new stage version of the ever popular Roald Dahl classic, The BFG.
Birmingham Repertory Theatre has announced that Roald Dahl’s The BFG will be its Christmas production for the 2014 festive season. The ever popular children’s book will be brought to life in a brand new staging and direction from Teresa Ludovico.
When little Sophie is snatched out of her bed by the BFG, she fears the worst. His grisly neighbours, the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater, like nothing more than guzzling up human beans. But the BFG is a dream-maker and not a man-eater and he’s about to take Sophie on a journey she never expected.
Children’s author Roald Dahl has enchanted young minds for more than 30 years with stories that fire the imagination, bring dreams to life and release squeals of both terror and delight. The REP promises that this version of The BFG will be ‘classic Dahl’ with ‘a stunning visual theatrical treat for audiences of all ages.’
Adapted for the stage by David Wood, The BFG, will be directed by Teresa Ludovico who thrilled audiences with her 2013 staging of Phillip Pullman’s I Was A Rat! Teresa is also known for her thrilling visual and physical productions of Beauty & The Beast, The Snow Queen and The Mermaid Princess.
This story of a dream-blowing, big friendly giant and little orphan Sophie in a land of child-eating giants will open at The REP from 26 November 2014 to 17 January 2015.
