All-Male Tempest Tour Dates Announced

From May to September, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, will be touring the UK with their production of William Shakespeare’s last play The Tempest. The open-air play, will visit some of Britain’s most beautiful and historic houses and castles, and encourages audience members to bring along picnics, deckchairs, and a glass of something chilled to enjoy with their evening of Shakespearean fun, and the show promises to be as original and entertaining as the company’s raucous Twelfth Night last year.

Mark Puddle, the company’s founder and creative director, says the show will prove more than popular with audiences. “After the success of last year’s Twelfth Night, we decided to do another comedy with a shipwreck in it, so The Tempest was the natural choice. We’ve assembled a terrific cast, and there are so many memorable characters and some of the most famous speeches Shakespeare ever wrote, so it should make a fantastic summer evening.”

The Tempest has delighted audiences for almost 400 years and is regarded by most scholars, to be Shakespeare’s last complete work. The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will continue its popularity by bringing the show to some of the most beautiful open-air venues in the country, offering audiences outside the capital the perfect opportunity to see Shakespeare’s plays performed to the very highest standards, in the way the Bard first envisioned them…with an all-male cast!

The production plays at the Botanical Gardens, Bath on 29 May, and Queens Square, Bristol on 3 July.
