Megan Mullally, best known for playing Karen in American sitcom Will & Grace, is bringing her concert show Megan Mullally & Supreme Music Program to the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre for eight performances only, from 16 to 21 February 2010.
The show will mark the first time Mullally has toured with her band, Supreme Music Program, outside of the US. Billed as a concert as opposed to a one-woman show, it will include songs from Mullally’s three albums alongside “previously unheard material”.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mullally said: “It’s a concert, not a show … I ramble on between songs, there’s no lighting design, no fancy costumes, just the band and me singing … We do a very esoteric mix of songs from every genre, and they’re all covers … We don’t do a lot of show tunes, and if we do, we really try to deconstruct it.”
Megan Mullally rose to stardom as the camp and kooky Karen in Will & Grace, a role that won her two Emmy Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. On stage, she has starred on Broadway in Grease, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and the Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein.
She recently announced that she is working on Karen: The Musical, a stage spin-off centred on her Will & Grace character.
