Shakespeare’s Globe became the unlikely destination for some A-list Hollywood star-spotting on Saturday (8 September 2012), as Tom Cruise rocked up to watch a performance of Richard III.
According to the Daily Mail, Cruise was accompanied by an entourage of four men and created “quite a stir” during the production, which stars former artistic director Mark Rylance in the title role.
He gave the performance a rousing standing ovation, before heading next door to the Swan At The Globe restaurant for a late dinner.
The Top Gun and Mission Impossible star reportedly told fellow bench-sitters that he loves the theatre; and he’s clearly making the most of the London scene while filming his latest movie All You Need Is Kill in the UK.
Richard III continues at the Globe to 13 October 2012, before transferring to the Apollo Theatre in November alongside Twelfth Night, which also features Rylance alongside Stephen Fry as Malvolio.
