The legendary musical returns to the London Palladium with Kelli O’Hara and Ken Watanabe in leading roles
Photos have been released offering a first look at the West End transfer of The King And I, starring Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe.
The production, which premiered at the Lincoln Center in New York, comes to the London Palladium, where it runs until September. The cast also features Naoko Mori, Ruthie Ann Miles, Dean John Wilson and Na-Young Jeon.
Set in 1860s Bangkok, the piece tells the story of an unexpected romance between a British schoolteacher and the King of Siam. Its classic songs include "Whistle a Happy Tune", "Getting to Know You" and "Shall We Dance".
The show is directed by Bartlett Sher, with design by Michael Yeargan, costume design by Catherine Zuber (who won a Tony Award for her designs in New York), lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Scott Lehrer, choreography by Chistoper Gattelli, musicial supervision by Ted Sperling and musical direction by Stephen Ridley.
