Sharon Stone is reportedly keen to tread the boards in the West End. The Basic Instinct actress, who has over 70 film and television credits to her name, relishes the challenge of live performance. “It’s still in me,” she said in an interview recently. “I think you have to prove you can face an audience nightly.”

Cynics might suggest this is merely an attempt to kickstart a faltering screen career (her last major release, Basic Instinct 2, was a box office flop), but Stone seems determined to prove her acting mettle. This prompts an obvious question as to which roles she might play? The actress was previously rumoured to be in the running to drop her robe as Mrs Robinson in Terry Johnson’s 2002 stage adaptation of The Graduate (See News, 4 May 2000).

Could we now be in for Basic Instinct: The Musical?
