A major conference examining the life and work of Royal Ballet founder Dame Ninette de Valois will take place in April 2011, which will be ten years after she died.
The conference is called Ninette de Valois: Adventurous Traditionalist, and will be held at the Royal Ballet Upper School in Covent Garden and at the Lower School in Richmond Park.
The conference committee will be chaired by Jane Pritchard, curator of dance, theatre and performance collections at the V&A Museum. Committee members include Kevin O’Hare, administrative director of The Royal Ballet and Jay Jolley, assistant director of the Royal Ballet School.
Full details of the conference programme are expected nearer the time. Regular updates will be available from 26 March 2010 on the conference website (www.royalballetshool.co.uk/dvconference).
