Now that the festivals have left Manchester, July/Aug are quiet times for the region’s theatres. But the Lowry has got Annie. The heart-warming rags-to-riches musical, returns to The Lowry from tomorrow, starring Hi-De-Hi’s Su Pollard as the dastardly Miss Hannigan.
Star of stage and screen, Pollard reprises her role as the unlikely matron of the orphanage with David McAlister (Hollyoaks and Brideshead Revisited) making a welcome return as billionaire businessman, Oliver Warbucks.
Annie’s adventures from Miss Hannigan’s orphanage to the luxurious home of Daddy Warbucks is a story that has been told all over the world for decades. First seen on stage in 1976, the Tony award-winning show has a memorable score including It’s a Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and of course the legendary Tomorrow.
Annie runs from 28 July until 1 Aug at the Lowry.
