Having been crowned the Queen of Comedy, walking away from this weekend’s British Comedy awards with the Best New TV Comedy Show, Best Female Comedy Actress and the People’s Choice Awards, Miranda Hart has told the Evening Standard she would love to make her West End debut. The comedy star, who performed in Alecky Blythe‘s 2006 play Cruising at the Bush Theatre, said she would love to play Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie. Having transferred her semi-autobiographical radio show to BBC in late 2009 Miranda has catapulted Hart into the comedy spotlight. Speaking backstage at the British Comedy Awards, which were held at The O2, Hart said she thought making her West End debut “would be lovely”, although she was not sure how realistic her plans were to write during the day and tread the boards at night.
