Improvised musical specialists The Showstoppers have announced a new residency at the Charing Cross Theatre this autumn.

The show, which began life as a workshop at the Actors’ Centre, sees a brand new musical being created at every performance.

A well-established Edinburgh Fringe favourite, it has previously enjoyed residencies in the West End and at the King’s Head Theatre (where they performed Whatsonstage.com: The Musical in 2010).

Co-creator Adam Meggido recently won a Best New Musical ‘Offie’ for Burlesque at Jermyn Street Theatre, which he wrote, composed and directed. He also produces the annual 50-hour Improvathon with his company the Sticking Place.

Showstoppers’ musical director Duncan Walsh-Atkins is one half of Flanders and Swann and his other credits include musical direction on Jersey Boys.

The current cast includes Ruth Bratt (Mongrels; Ricky Gervais’ Derek), Foster’s Comedy Award nominee Pippa Evans, David Reed (one third award-winning comedy team Penny Dreadfuls) and Oliver Senton (Mamma Mia!, West End).

The Showstoppers will run at Charing Cross Theatre on Sundays at 7pm from 7 October to 23 December 2012.
