The new autumn season at Darlington Arts Centre offers a variety of entertainment, including the drama, Motherland and modern and unique twists on some of Shakespeare’s most popular work.

Motherland comes to the Arts Centre on Tuesday 29th September reflecting on ordinary lives, and extraordinary stories, in a powerful and moving drama that shares the true stories of women whose everyday lives have been touched by the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Motherland previously played at the 2008 Edinburgh festival.

Modern and unique twists on some of Shakespeare’s most popular work include A Tempest- Such Signs As Dreams Are Made On on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November which is presented with puppets, music, song, sign language to introduce children to the richness of Shakespeare’s language and storytelling.

Othello: The Moor of Venice comes to the stage on Wednesday 25th November, and another Shakespeare favourite, The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be given a distinctly Zimbabwean perspective bringing the verse to life in new and unfamiliar rhythm.

The season also features live music, comedy and dance.

New season brochures are available from the venues (Darlington Civic Centre and Arts Centre) and from the Box Office. For further information contact the Box Office on 01325 486 555 or visit www.darlingtonarts.co.uk
