Chapterhouse Theatre Company are bringing festive favourite, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to Buxton – following a successful Summer of Open Air Theatre.

2009 marked the ompany’s tenth anniversary year, with tours of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet. Chapterhouse now perform at over 130 different locations around Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland for their garden theatre season, including many of the most beautiful settings for open-air theatre imaginable. Every venue has something different to offer, and in recent years, we have performed at Chirk Castle, Exbury Gardens, the Royal Estates of Sandringham, Balmoral and Windsor, and Castle Ward in Ireland.

They arrive at the Pavillion Arts Centre (part of the Buxton Opera House) in December for A Christmas Carol. Meet all your favourite characters, from the beloved Tiny Tim to the unforgettable Mr and Mrs Fezziwig, as you usher in the festive period.

On Christmas Eve, the most magical night of the year, the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is whisked away on a terrifying journey through the past and into the future, accompanied by three fearsome ghosts determined to make him realize the true meaning of Christmas. Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story is brought alive in this most traditional of productions, complete with beautiful period costume, song, dance and a magnificent, original musical score.

A Christmas Carol is at the Pavillion Arts Centre in Buxton for two performances on 4 December.
