The National Theatre staging of Joe Penhall’s Blue/Orange that
transferred to the Duchess on April 30 is to close there on December 15,
after a run of almost eight months.
Set in a mental hospital where two doctors argue over the right treatment of
a patient, the award-winning play originally starred Bill Nighy, Andrew
Lincoln and Chiwetel Ejiofor when it opened at the National’s Cottesloe
last year, and all three transferred with it to the West End. On August 20,
they were replaced by David Threlfall, Neil Stuke and Shaun Parkes.
They were originally scheduled to appear until January 5, but the run has
now been reduced by three weeks.
