Casting has been announced for The Glass Menagerie at Arcola Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre.

Directed by Femi Elufowoju jr, who won the Off-West End Award for Best Direction for his recent production of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives earlier this year, the revival of Tennessee Williams' piece will open in Watford on 2 May before transferring to London's Arcola Theatre, where it runs from 23 May to 13 July.

Appearing in the show will be Michael Abubakar (The Whip Hand) as Tom, Lesley Ewen (Roller) as Amanda, Charlie Maher (Asking For It) as Jim and Naima Swaleh who is making her professional stage debut as Laura.

The first British production set in the African American community, The Glass Menagerie has design by Rebecca Brower, lighting and video design by Arnim Friess, sound by Yvonne Gilbert, movement by Kemi Durosinmi and voice work by Joel Trill.

Williams' play, considered by many to be one of the greatest text of the last century, follows an overbearing mother, her delicate daughter and her writer son, who yearns to get out of the suffocating family home.
