Hattie Morahan, Seth Numrich, Jemima Rooper and more cast in Orpheus Descending at Theatr Clwyd and Menier Chocolate Factory

The full cast of the upcoming revival of Tennessee Williams' Orpheus Descending has been announced.

Tamara Harvey's production will feature Catin Aaron (Beulah Binnings), Michael Geary (Pee Wee Binnings), Valentine Hanson (Uncle Pleasant), Jenny Livsey (Eva Temple / Woman), Laura Jane Matthewson (Dolly Hamma), Mark Meadows (Jabe Torrance), Ifan Meredith (David Cutrere / Dog Hamma), Hattie Morahan (Lady Torrance), Seth Numrich (Val Xavier), Ian Porter (Sheriff Talbott), Jemima Rooper (Carol Cutrere), Carol Royle (Vee Talbott) and Carrie Quinlan (Sister / Nurse Porter).

The play follows Lady, who is trapped in a loveless marriage, and whose small-town life is thrown apart by the appearance of a charismatic drifter.

Williams' piece was originally called Battle of Angels and was directed in a film version by Sidney Lumet called The Fugitive Kind starrin Marlon Brando and Anna Magnani in 1959.

The show will open at Theatr Clwyd on 15 April and run until 27 April before transferring to the Menier Chocolate Factory from 9 May to 6 July with a press night on 15 May. Public booking for the Menier dates opens today.
