The artistic director of Theatr Clwyd stepped in to star in the theatre's pantomime last night, after the lead actor fell ill.

Tamara Harvey was called upon to star as Alice in the venue's pantomime Dick Whittington while she was at home, coaxing her three year old daughter to eat broccoli.

It was five minutes into the show when Emmy Stonelake twisted her knee and was unable to continue. After a 25 minute break, Harvey stepped on to save the day.

Harvey said: "It's something that every artistic director is prepared to do, but I never expected I'd actually have to do it!"

Earlier this year, Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, stepped in to save a production of Tamara Harvey's Home, I'm Darling, which was running in London.
