Rufus Norris steps in to star in Home, I'm Darling at the National Theatre

A post by the theatre's twitter account said Norris stepped in to play the role of Jonny after Richard Harrington was left indisposed.

Whilst Norris is no stranger to treading the boards – he trained as an actor at RADA – the director's experience is certainly on the other side of the curtain, with credits including acclaimed productions of Cabaret, London Road and the Evening Standard Award-winning productions of Afore Night Come and Festen. In 2015 he replaced Nicholas Hytner as boss of the National Theatre.
Home, I'm Darling is a new comedy about one woman's quest to become the perfect 1950s housewife. Katherine Parkinson plays Judy in the piece, which is directed by Clwyd artistic director Tamara Harvey and plays at the National until 5 September.
