A last-minute change of programming at the National Theatre means that Whatsonstage.com’s own contributing editor Mark Shenton will take to the stage of the NT Olivier tonight (Thursday 28 October 2004). He’ll be quizzing legendary American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim, who’s making the rare UK public appearance as part of the National’s ongoing Platform series. The event coincides with Edward Hall’s acclaimed revival of Sondheim’s early musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, which finishes its sell-out run as part of the Travelex £10 season at the Olivier on 2 November 2004. Shenton and Sondheim are on at 6.00pm. For tickets, call the NT box office now on 020 7452 3000.
