Film actor Richard E Grant will narrate a show celebrating Celtish culture at Guildford Cathedral next month.

Triqueta – described by the organisers as “War of the Worlds meets Riverdance” –  will feature a 40 piece orchestra, a rock band, a choir and a supporting cast of dancers and singers.

The organisers hope the show subsequently embark on a cathedral-only tour of the UK although no dates have yet been confirmed..

Grant will be joined by How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? contestant Zoe Tyler, Wicked‘s Jacqueline Hughes, aerial act Valerie and the lead guitarist of rock band Sons of Icarus.

Grant – famous for his role in the cult film Withnail and I – described the production as a spectacle for the senses. “The show is underpinned by a strong narrative and captivating music which push the boundaries and take the audience on a celebration of rich history, incredible stories and the magic of creation,” he said.

Triqueta has an original score by composer and music producer Joe
O’Connor
and is directed and choreographed by Jerry Robinson.

Triqueta will make its UK debut on 16 June 2012 at Guildford Cathedral.
