The ladies of Rylstone Women’s Institute – better known as the original Calendar Girls – have reached an astonishing landmark, 11 years after they posed for the original calendar. Thanks to their continued efforts, and over £500,000 in donations from the current stage show, they have now raised over £3 million for the blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

To mark the occasion, original Calendar Girls Angela Baker, Tricia Stewart, Ros Fawcett and Lynda Logan, along with Lynda’s husband Terry, who took the photographs for the calendar, attended the opening night of the show at the Theatre Royal Brighton on Monday (29 November). Brighton is the last stop for the current tour, which will launch again in January 2011 with a cast led by Lynda Bellingham.
