Love & Money Come Together for Spring in Hornchurch

The spring 2012 season for the resident cut to the chase… company at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch has now been finalised. It begins with a comedy by Amanda Whittington, whose Ladies Day and Ladies Down Under have both received successful productions at the Queen’s. Satin’n’Steel is about a couple who meet at a karaoke competition and decide to turn professional. 3 to 25 February if you want to know what happens next.

We all know that we’re living through a time of credit crunch. So a new production of Dario Fo’s classic Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! between 9 and 31 March seems to be rather good timing in the circumstance. Combining the themes of love and money – though in a rather different context – this three-show season ends with Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, opening on 20 April and running until 12 May.

On the lookout for a bargain after all that? Jump the Q offers subscribers the chance to see all three plays for £14 each, a 40 per cent saving on the full price. The offer ends on 18 February and the theatre reckons that it amounts to three new productions for the cost of one revival in the West End. By any standards – and those of the Queen’s are high – it looks like good value for money.
